Sam, I have always admired your work and have been a fan of yours for many years. I am not one to comment on posts often. I think what you write about attention, or lack thereof, is on point. It’s a great reminder because we can all do better. Much, much better.
I think it’s a lofty goal to exclude people who don’t (or simply can’t) give 100 percent of their attention. It takes awareness, then practice. Your solution is maybe a little drastic. Where does acceptance of others, as they are, fit in to our values?
Thanks for commenting, Mariuccia. Agreed on the lofty goal and the need for acceptance of where people are. I should have pulled that in. I think I got lost focusing on what I'm trying to do while thinking of people who can stay focused but choose not to. I appreciate your push!
A timely reminder for challenging times. As you noted it is a skill, and requires effort. I've found that the better I listen, and allow others to communicate, the more pleasant the experience and rewarding for the mind. It's also kind of a very basic respect, for one another. As you said in "Love Your People" we all want that time when we have someone's attention, one on one. Thanks for a great contribution to my day.

Hope you're doing well, Doug Bear!
