score (a tiny caution)
Beer bellies and divorces don’t happen overnight.

Samuel Johnson | English writer | 1709 – 1784
Be careful to minimize your inattention.
Just as consistent attention, effort, and care can create special things over time, the reverse can produce bad things over time. (Beer bellies and divorces don’t happen overnight.)
This is the 212 slide—a slow walk or drip into what might be unpleasant or worse.
Examples at various levels of severity are ample—personal, organizational, and cultural.
I collected them for a while. I thought I might include them in my 212 book as cautionary tales. With time, it felt like doing that would take away from the focus of the book.
My guess is you know many of these examples on your own. If you’d like to talk about them, email me anytime.
